Architectural Material Types
In recent years WPL UK Ltd have been instrumental in helping to raise the awareness to architects, designers & contractors alike to the exciting possibilities offered by Mesh materials on Facade type applications.
This site introduces a wider range of independently supplied styles and patterns that have previously been unavailable from one source and demonstrates some of the many project applications for these materials. This will hopefully inspire further imaginative use, as well as clearly demonstrating WPL UK Ltd's flexibility and willingness to work with architects and designers to develop interesting and innovative patterns.
The range of Materials, each with its own characteristics and optical effect , can be manufactured in a wide range of specifications to either increase or decrease the density, texture or transparency of the product. In addition many of these patterns are self-supporting, therefore reducing both cost and complications with regard to fabrication and installation.
Typical Examples of Materials that can be applied for Architectural purposes:-
Plain Woven Mesh
Plain Woven Mesh is manufactured in a variety of specifications, typically 1# > 500# in a variety of material types. The most common material type being a Stainless Steel grade suitable for its final application.
Cable Rod Woven Mesh
This Mesh has a diverse range of uses, depending on the pattern, grade of material, orientation, wire & aperture sizes. Flexible in the one longitudinal direction, whilst remaining rigid in the other latitudinal direction. Can also be manufactured with Galvanised, Stainless Steel & St St cable c/w Bronze or Brass rods.
Balanced Spiral Weave Mesh
As above, these materials are flexible, yet rigid and can be applied in a tensioned or draped state. These have been used on a variety of projects, Facades, Cladding, Solar Shading & Blast Screens. Various spiral sizes can be woven together to create many unusual designs.
Crimped Flat Top Mesh
A rigid Mesh which can be manufactured with a wide variety of aperture shape & size & wire orientation, often applied as, Balustrade, Facades, Enclosures, Ceilings.
